FAQ

What happens to our brand after the project ends?

The guidelines and assets we deliver are designed to be self-sufficient, so your team and vendor-partners should be able to apply the brand consistently without coming back to us for every decision. That said, most clients do continue working with us after a brand project, applying the new identity across their website, print materials, digital marketing, and other touchpoints. We're here for as much or as little as you need.

Can you work within our existing brand, or do we have to start from scratch?

Absolutely! In fact, most of our brand engagements are refreshes or evolutions, not ground-up rebrands. We can audit what's working in your current brand, preserve the equity you've built, and strengthen the elements that aren't serving you. Starting from scratch is only the right answer when there's a strategic reason to leave the existing brand behind entirely.

What do we get at the end of a brand identity project?

At minimum: a complete logo suite (primary, secondary, and icon variations in all required formats), a full visual identity system (color palette, typography, imagery direction, graphic elements), and a comprehensive brand guidelines document. Depending on scope, we may also deliver brand messaging frameworks, a brand story document, and initial rollout applications. Everything is packaged for immediate use by your team and vendors.

How many people from our organization need to be involved?

That varies by organization, but we recommend keeping the core decision-making group small — typically 2–4 people — to keep the process moving efficiently. We do conduct broader stakeholder interviews during discovery, but design reviews and approvals work best with a focused group empowered to make decisions. We'll help you structure the process to keep it from getting unwieldy.

How long does a brand identity project take?

A focused brand refresh, including logo refinement, updated visual system, new guidelines, typically runs 8–12 weeks. A full brand identity engagement that includes discovery, strategy, positioning, and a complete visual identity system generally runs 12–20 weeks, depending on the scope of research and the number of stakeholders involved in the review process. We'll give you a realistic timeline during our initial consultation.

How do we know if we need a full rebrand or just a refresh?

That's exactly the right question, and one we help you answer during discovery. A refresh typically involves evolving your existing identity: modernizing a logo, tightening your messaging, standardizing your visual system. A full rebrand involves revisiting your positioning and building a new identity from the ground up. The right approach depends on how far your current brand has drifted from who you are and where you're going. We'll give you an honest assessment early in the process.
